RevertIt is a browser recovery extension. It can locally save changed text from eligible editable fields, browser workspace checkpoints, recovery history, settings, diagnostics, and backup data so users can recover work after accidental deletion, reloads, browser restarts, or computer restarts.

Local-first processing

The current RevertIt release does not use a RevertIt account server, analytics service, advertising SDK, remote AI service, or billing backend.

Recovered field values are stored using the browser extension storage API in the user's browser profile. RevertIt backup files are created only when the user chooses to export them.

Website access

Automatic recovery requires RevertIt to run on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages. RevertIt examines eligible editable fields locally so it can save changed values before a loss occurs.

RevertIt is designed not to intentionally save:

Sensitive-field filtering is defense in depth, not a guarantee that every website labels every sensitive field correctly. Users should use per-site exclusions on sites where they do not want draft protection.

Prefilled fields

RevertIt establishes a baseline and is designed to save only fields that a user actually changes from their initial value. Untouched prefilled fields are not intended to become recovery checkpoints.

Workspace checkpoints

When Workspace Guard is enabled, RevertIt can save the URLs, titles, and tab/window layout of ordinary HTTP/HTTPS tabs. Incognito or private-window tabs are excluded from workspace checkpoints.

Diagnostics

RevertIt can keep a bounded local technical diagnostic log. Diagnostics are designed not to include recovered field values, but can include contextual metadata such as hostname or page key, field labels, field counts, restore results, save latency, storage usage, and technical error reasons.

Users can clear or export diagnostics from RevertIt.

Backups

A user can explicitly export a local JSON backup containing RevertIt settings, draft checkpoints, and workspace checkpoints. Exported files are not encrypted by RevertIt. Anyone with access to the backup file may be able to read its contents.

Retention and deletion

Ordinary recovery history is subject to RevertIt's configured retention and storage limits. Pinned items can be retained longer.

Users can delete individual checkpoints or pages, clear saved recovery and workspace data, clear diagnostics, exclude websites, and export or import their own backup. Removing the extension may remove its browser-local extension storage.

Data transmission

The current release does not intentionally transmit recovered draft values, workspace data, or diagnostic logs to RevertIt or third-party analytics systems.

If future versions add accounts, synchronization, billing, or hosted AI, this policy and applicable browser-store disclosures will be updated before those features are enabled.

Security

RevertIt uses local browser-extension storage, but that storage is not an encrypted vault. Device or browser-profile access can affect the confidentiality of locally stored recovery data.

Children's privacy

RevertIt is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through a RevertIt-operated online service. The current release does not operate an account or cloud-data service.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

RevertIt's use of information received through Chrome extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes to this policy

If RevertIt's data practices materially change, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date will be revised.
